Cold roll forming is a new efficient process and technology of metal forming that saves materials and energy. Cold roll forming is the continuous horizontal bending of coils, strips and other metal plates through multiple forming rolls arranged in sequence to form profiles with specific cross-sections.
The roll forming machine strip is bent in a straight line along the longitudinal direction. However, the combination of the pressure generated during the bending deformation and the residual stress in the strip often causes the strip to deviate from the cold roll forming equipment. To describe the degree of deviation of the strip from the next forming roll, the commonly used words are: side bending-bending in the horizontal direction, warping-bending in the vertical direction, twisting-in a spiral shape. In order to solve these problems, a straightening mechanism should be used at the end of the roll forming machine.
For the profile with defects such as side bending and warping, the correcting mechanism applies sufficient pressure in the opposite direction to deform it. If the amount of deformation in the opposite direction is appropriate, the profile can be completely straightened after rebounding. If the roll forming machine material produced by roll forming machine manufacturers is twisted and deformed in a certain direction, the straightening mechanism rotates the profile in the opposite direction in order to produce plastic deformation. If the angle of rotation is appropriate, the profile will no longer be twisted after rebounding.
The straightening of bending or twisting is usually carried out between the last forming roll and the cutting die. If the last roll cannot effectively support the profile, then when entering one side of the straightening mechanism, the entire section of the profile must be supported.
During straightening an asymmetric profile, torsional deformation may occur. At this time, it is necessary to simultaneously perform bending and torsion straightening in the opposite direction of the profile deformation.
During the straightening process of the roll forming machine, the profile will move up and down, so that the gap between the straightening mechanism and the profile is required to be relatively loose. There can be a certain gap between the straightening mechanism and the surface of the profile.
